It was brought to my attention by someone working "inside" that there was an analysis done by a federal government agency (I don't wish to name, but you can guess) on SALVIA DIVINORUM from certain internet sites. The findings were EXACTLY as I suspected, and have mentioned time and time again about where you buy your Salvia!
The notice I received is a final stage report, meaning they've tested the items repeatedly. Some of the information is as follows:
Analysis of the psychoactive terpenoid Salvinorin A content in five Salvia divinorum herbal products from internet sites including *******, *******, *******, *******, *******.
(I will not disclose those sites for obvious reasons.)
Analyses were conducted using HPLC and TLC/GC/MS. The samples were purchased from Internet by the agents and sent for sampling. The samples were all subpotent with respect to stated Salvinorin A content and strengths. In a couple of instances, Salvinorin A content was so sparse it was almost inert in distributed effects. Three also contained problematic adulterants.
To better help those understand, some items bought at VERY familiar shops were SUB-standard! Some were also "LACED" or chemically altered as an end product. This is highly dangerous, and is also what speeds up the process in getting items in question banned FEDERALLY. It's bad enough the feds want to ban QUALITY items, but people are giving them another reason to ban an item because of someones impurities in processing!
Becareful where you buy your salvia, DO NOT BY ON EBAY! |
